Newsome Completes Major Boiler Plant Upgrade for Leading Health & Wellness Provider

Here at Newsome, we are pleased to announce the successful completion of a major boiler plant replacement project for an internationally renowned health and wellness provider at one of its flagship UK facilities. The project involved the replacement of ageing heating infrastructure with a modern, energy-efficient cascade boiler system designed to improve reliability, increase operational flexibility and support the site’s long-term sustainability objectives.

Maintaining uninterrupted heating and hot water services throughout the project was a critical requirement. As a busy health and wellness facility serving members daily, any disruption to showers, changing facilities or building heating could have had a significant impact on the customer experience. Our engineering team therefore developed a carefully planned installation strategy designed to ensure continuous operation throughout the replacement works.

Following a detailed assessment of the existing plantroom and heating infrastructure, Newsome designed a new 900kW heating solution based around six high-efficiency condensing boilers installed within a cascade arrangement. The new system provides greater flexibility than a traditional boiler configuration, allowing heating output to closely match demand while delivering improved efficiency during periods of partial load operation.

One of the key benefits of the new industrial boiler installation is enhanced resilience. The modular design allows individual boilers to operate independently within the cascade, ensuring the system can continue providing heating and hot water even if maintenance is required on a single unit. This approach significantly improves reliability while reducing the operational risks often associated with older, larger boiler installations. To maintain business continuity during the replacement works, Newsome incorporated temporary heating contingency measures within the project plan. This enabled our engineers to safely decommission existing equipment and complete installation activities while ensuring uninterrupted service provision to the facility.

The project also involved extensive mechanical modifications within the plant room, including the installation of new pipework, control valves, filtration equipment, plate heat exchanger integration, thermal insulation and associated heating infrastructure. Every aspect of the installation was carefully coordinated to minimise disruption while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety.

Following installation, the system underwent comprehensive testing and commissioning by Newsome service engineers to verify performance, efficiency and operational reliability. The new boiler plant is now fully operational and providing efficient, dependable heating throughout the facility.

This project highlights Newsome’s ability to deliver complete turnkey heating solutions for occupied environments where maintaining operational continuity is essential. By combining our expertise in temporary boiler hire, mechanical installation, boiler replacement and long-term maintenance support, we were able to provide the client with a fully managed solution from initial consultation through to final commissioning.

As organisations continue to invest in modern, energy-efficient heating infrastructure, Newsome remains committed to delivering engineered solutions that improve reliability, reduce operating costs and support long-term building performance.
