As an Internal Technical Design Engineer, Deepak supports the design and specification of HVAC systems for commercial, healthcare and institutional projects. His role includes equipment selection, calculations, CAD design, technical support and quality checks.

What attracted you to Newsome?

I wanted to join a growing engineering company where I could use my previous HVAC experience while learning more about UK standards, equipment and project delivery.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy solving technical problems. Every project has different space, performance and budget requirements, so there is always something new to consider.

How has Newsome supported your development?

The team has helped me understand UK regulations, supplier products and internal processes. I have been trusted with more responsibility as my experience has grown.

What makes a project rewarding?

Seeing an initial calculation or drawing become a complete working system is very satisfying. You understand how your design decisions affect the final installation.

How does your previous experience help you?

Working in India and the UAE exposed me to different climates, standards and working practices. That experience helps me consider problems from several angles.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

I am interested in reducing energy use without compromising performance. Good design should meet the client’s requirements while avoiding unnecessary operating costs.

How would you describe the Newsome team?

People are approachable and willing to share their knowledge. Design, sales, projects and service teams work together, which helps us produce better solutions.

What achievement are you most proud of?

Before joining Newsome, I helped develop a solar-powered tricycle designed to support fish vendors in rural India. It showed me how engineering can improve everyday lives.

Service Administrator Team Leader, Newsome Ltd

Within just twelve months, Jess was promoted to Service Administrator Team Leader. Today, she leads a busy team responsible for supporting engineers, coordinating service activities and ensuring customers receive the responsive support that Newsome is known for. Alongside her professional career, Jess is also studying for an Open University degree.

We caught up with Jess to learn more about her career journey and what it’s like to work within the Newsome Group.

What attracted you to Newsome?

I was looking for a company where I could build a long-term career rather than simply find my next job. Newsome had a strong reputation and was continuing to grow, and during the interview process, it was clear there was a real focus on people. That was important to me.

What was your first impression of the company?

The atmosphere stood out straight away. Everyone was welcoming and approachable. It felt like a business where people genuinely cared about each other and took pride in what they were doing. There was a real team spirit from day one.

How has your career developed since joining?

The progression has been much quicker than I expected. I joined as a Service Administrator and was promoted to Team Leader within my first year. It showed me that if you work hard, take responsibility and contribute to the business, opportunities will follow.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy being part of the solution. Whether it’s helping a customer during a challenging breakdown situation, supporting engineers in the field or helping the team manage a busy workload, it’s rewarding knowing that your work genuinely makes a difference every day.

How would you describe the culture at Newsome?

Supportive, ambitious and collaborative. People work hard, but there is also a genuine willingness to help each other. You never feel like you’re facing challenges alone.

Do you feel valued within the business?

Definitely. Recognition isn’t always about awards or formal processes. It’s often the trust people place in you, the opportunities you’re given and the support you receive. Newsome has always made me feel that my contribution matters.

How does Newsome support your professional development?

The business encourages people to take on new challenges and continue learning. I’m currently studying for an Open University degree and have always felt supported in balancing my education alongside my career. The company genuinely wants people to grow.
